The Department of Psychiatry offers a tremendous range of educational opportunities and encourages medical students from other LCME-accredited institutions to consider participating in an elective at the University of Iowa.

If you are considering visiting our campus as medical student, please review the application process for visiting students and be aware of the variety of options for short-term housing in the Iowa City area.

Visiting students park in the Hawk Lot on the west side of Iowa City and take a free shuttle bus to the hospital. Public transportation is available through the University of Iowa Cambus system and Iowa City Transit. There also exist a wide range of bike trails in the Iowa City area. The Iowa City Bike Library has a program where bikes can be checked out for up to 6 months.
