About Us

The University of Iowa Department of Urology provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment in the clinic setting as well as surgical interventions for all urologic and male reproductive system diseases and disorders. Since our department's founding in 1922, we have remained true to our original vision of advancing treatment, research, and education focused on the broad spectrum of urologic conditions and diseases. Our faculty members are repeatedly recognized around the world for their expertise in patient care, research, and teaching.

The department was cited as "high-performing" by U.S. News and World Report in its 2023–24 rankings of the best hospitals. We are home to the only fellowship-trained and board-certified pediatric urologists in Iowa.

The Rubin H. Flocks Urology Clinic and our departmental offices are on the third floor of the Roy J. Carver Pavilion of UI Hospitals & Clinics. Departmental research laboratories are located on the third floor of the Medical Education and Research Facility on the Carver College of Medicine campus.
