Congratulations to Carol Vance on Completing her PhD!

Long-standing faculty member Carol Vance successfully defended her PhD thesis April 16, 2013. She participated in the commencement ceremony May 17 held by the University of Iowa Graduate College at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Carol (Dr. Vance) has been an integral part of our faculty since 1995 teaching a variety of courses over the years including: Physical Agents, Orthopedics, Integumentary, Differential Diagnosis, Principles of Physical Therapy, Anatomy, Radiology and Imaging, Selected Topics, Prosthetics and Orthotics, and Case Based Learning. Carol's thesis examined parameters and effectiveness of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) under the direction of Dr. Kathleen Sluka. Carol will be continuing in her position as a faculty member at the University of Iowa where she currently teaches Physical Agents, Management of the Integument, and Differential Diagnosis. She will also continue with research collaborations with Dr. Sluka on the effectiveness of TENS in people with fibromyalgia and serve as a consultant to Dr. Der-Fa Lu on a study in the College of Nursing examining Therapeutic Healing Touch.
