Yasin Joins Department in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology

Please welcome Dr. Shima Yasin as Assistant Professor in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Yasin earned her MD from the University of Khartoum in 2005.  Next, she served as House Officer with Sudan Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) from 2005-2007.  She earned her MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Witwaterrand, South Africa in 2008.  Dr. Yasin served as a Medical Officer at Sudan Federal Ministry of Health, Sudan from 2008-2010 and completed US residency training at Inova Children’s Hospital from 2013-2016.  Next, she completed US Rheumatology fellowship training at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital from 2016-2019.  Concurrently, she started her Ph.D., program in Epidemiology in 2017 at the University of Cincinnati.  Dr. Yasin recently completed an academic research rheumatology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital at the end of June 2020. She is board certified in pediatrics and board eligible in Rheumatology.  

Dr. Yasin joins the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology as a physician-scientist to expand our research program and to provide clinical care to children with rheumatologic disease in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Dr. Yasin is coming under the Program for Pediatric Research, where her research interests are focused on novel markers and therapeutic agents for systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis and macrophage activation syndrome.
