The Medical Education Council (MEC) is the designated executive body
responsible for the design, implementation, and evaluation of the
curriculum of the Carver College of Medicine. The MEC consults with
departmental DEOs, the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Curriculum
(OSAC), the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education
(OCRME), and others as needed. The final decision making authority
regarding matters affecting the curriculum rests with the Dean of the
Carver College of Medicine. There are 15 voting members, including the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Curriculum, one Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Curriculum, the chairs of the MEC’s four standing subcommittees, five elected faculty representatives, two representatives from the Office of Consultation and Research in Medical Education, and two student representatives.
