Welcome

Our research is directed at understanding the integrative physiology of cardiovascular and metabolic control, at the whole-organism level. Ongoing projects are investigating the tissue-specific roles of the renin-angiotensin system in the control of blood pressure and resting metabolic rate; the role of neurohormones in the pathogenesis of the pregnancy-specific cardiovascular disorder "preeclampsia"; and the physiological relevance and mechanisms which control 'non-aerobic' metabolic processes in vivo. Ultimately our work is aimed at identifying novel therapeutic targets for hypertension, preeclampsia, obesity, and diabetes.
