Thank you for your interest in the University of Iowa Nuclear Medicine Technology Program. The program serves as the junior and senior years towards a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology and begins in August of each year. The curriculum includes didactic course work and clinical rotations in Nuclear Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Students interested in the applying to the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program must first be officially admitted to the University of Iowa as an undergraduate student. Typically, the student will apply to the University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), selecting nuclear medicine technology interest, radiation sciences interest or some other healthcare or science area of interest is their declared program of study. Transfer students who are on course to complete all NMT program prerequisites at another institution are encouraged to apply for admission to the University at least two months prior to the NMT program application deadline in order to ensure that their transcripts and other University admissions requirements are fully evaluated and approved in time to be considered for the next NMT program class.

Once interested students have completed (or are on schedule to complete) all program prerequisites, including official admission to the University of Iowa, a Nuclear Medicine Technology Program application form must be completed and returned directly to the office of the NMT Program Director by the program’s January 15 application deadline. We also require the completion of three program reference forms as part of the application process.

All application materials must be received by JANUARY 15 for an applicant to be considered for the NMT class that begins the following Fall. Interviews of the most qualified candidates are conducted throughout the month of February and a maximum of 8 students may be selected each year.
