The University of Iowa Department of Urology provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment in the clinic setting as well as surgical interventions for all urologic and male reproductive system diseases and disorders. Since the department was founded in 1927 as the second academic urology department created in the United States, we remain true to our original vision of advancing treatment, research, and education of the broad spectrum of urologic conditions and diseases. Our faculty members are continually recognized, both nationally and around the world, for their expertise in patient care, research, and teaching.
The department has ranked in the top 25 of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Hospitals in the category of urology for six of the last 10 years. Two department physicians are featured on U.S. News and World Report’s listing of Top Doctors and the department is home to the only fellowship-trained and board-certified pediatric urologists in the state of Iowa.
The Urology clinic and departmental offices are located on the third floor of the Roy J. Carver Pavilion of the UI Hospitals and Clinics. Departmental research laboratories are located on the third floor of the Medical Education and Research Facility on the Carver College of Medicine campus.
