Embryo Cryopreservation Service
The Transgenic and Genome Manipulation
Facility is offering a new Mouse Embryo Cryopreservation Service for University of Iowa Faculty. The facility now has the ability to cryopreserve two cell embryos. Unlike sperm cryopreservation wherein reanimation provides heterozygous mice at best, homozygous embryos can be cryo preserved and later reanimated with this method. This is an alternative way to cryopreserve and archive valuable
mouse lines as an insurance against any unforeseen animal facility disaster
such as a protracted power outage or a serious disease outbreak in the facility. To get started download a service request form link.
