Surgery

  • Support the Department

    Your gift makes a difference.

Our ability to offer exceptional care is enhanced by support from patients and their families, alumni, and other friends of the Department. Our contributors have chosen to lend a hand by making charitable gifts that will help ensure our services can reach even more patients in need.

Generous donations help the Department of Surgery maintain a tradition of world-class patient care and clinical advances by funding research, education, and special programs and projects.

Assisted by gifts from private contributors, we’ve been able to:

    • Offer continuing-education opportunities for faculty, residents, fellows, nurses, and other support staff to continually enhance patient care.
    • Use advanced technology to perform life-saving and life-enhancing surgeries more effectively and efficiently, including minimally invasive techniques like robotic surgery.
    • Pursue pioneering research to develop new surgical techniques to treat cancer, burns, obesity, and trauma– as well as educational approaches for preventing these common conditions.

You can help us do more.

We’re proud of our record of success with the thousands of patients we treat each year. With your help, we can do even more to help surgery patients. Here are a few ways we can enhance our services with the help of private support:

    • Create a research endowment that enables the best and brightest investigators to pursue new areas of investigation.
    • Attract the world’s best physicians and researchers to the department by providing ample funds for faculty support.
    • Develop and expand our hallmark “interdisciplinary teams” approach for optimum patient care, including pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, gastrointestinal surgery, vascular surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, and acute care and general surgery.
    • Continually enhance care and clinical outcomes for surgical patients.
    • Minimize the need for injury-related surgeries through public-education efforts promoting burn and injury prevention.
