The UI Council on Teaching has announced that W. John Sharp, MD, has been selected to receive the 2019 President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence. As described in the announcement letter, the award is a testament to the dedication and success of the recipient in enhancing the quality of educational programs at the University of Iowa. Dr. Sharp is the Director of the Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery, and currently is the Vice Chair for Education in the department. In 2014, Dr. Sharp also received the Theilen Clinical Teaching and Service Award.

The President and Provost Award will be formally presented to him in autumn, 2019, at the University Faculty and Staff Awards Ceremony.
