Health Sciences Research Week

  • Cover Art Contest

This year Health Sciences Research Week will hold a Cover Art contest.  CCOM students, post-doctoral researchers, staff and faculty are invited to submit mini-posters in the form of journal covers that emphasize a scientific finding, concept or image.

Printed cover art should be one letter-size page (8.5"x11") and in portrait orientation.  Please include "Health Sciences Research Week" as a title across the top of the page.  Along with the cover art, please include a page with a 1-3 sentence description of what the cover art illustrates and the software used in its preparation.  Be sure to reference whether the cover art corresponds to a paper published this year. We highly encourage the use of scientific graphic software programs, especially those that favor display of proteins, metabolites, or cellular structures.

Judges will be looking for artful renditions of authentic images made with the aid of scientific image software.  Stronger consideration will be given to those images that display data or concepts from papers published within the last year.

Submissions will be accepted at the main desk in the MERF Atrium on Monday, April 21st from 9-4pm.

Submissions will be displayed for consideration at the poster sessions on Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23, 1-4pm in the MERF Atrium.  The winning cover art will be awarded $100 and will be featured on Medvision.   Questions can be directed to Sonya Housholder.
