The Radiation Therapy Program is a 24-month didactic and clinical education program beginning in the fall semester. All transfer coursework must be submitted to UI Admissions prior to January 15 to be considered. Applicants are not required to have completed the prerequisites prior to application or acceptance. However, all prerequisites MUST be successfully completed by the end of the spring semester and the transcripts must be sent to the admissions office by June 1st.
Transfer Course Note: If you are completing courses outside of The University of Iowa, please include a printout of your Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 registration with your application. As soon as final grades are posted for these courses, be sure to have the official transcript(s) sent to the UI Admissions Office.
The following information must be submitted by the applicant as a single packet. Packets will be accepted from October 1 to January 15 for the class beginning in the Fall semester. Packets missing requirements or postmarked after January 15 will NOT be considered.
Class size is limited to 7 students per year. The Admission Committee will select approximately 15 students for interview. Student selection will be made on course work, grade point average, communication skills, healthcare experience, radiation therapy job-shadowing hours, references and personal statement (essay). Healthcare experience and job-shadowing hours are highly recommended for the applicant to understand the role of a radiation therapist and patient care. Communication skills are demonstrated through a personal statement written by each applicant, as well as the personal interview. All selected students must consent to an external background check.
