The Department of Radiation Oncology was established as an independent department in 2001, having been a division of the Department of Radiology since 1973. The first and present head of the department is John M. Buatti, MD.
The department is supported by two arms: those of the clinical division and the Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program (FRRBP). Both are devoted to constant innovation in order to improve the daily care we give patients and improving long-term survival through dedicated cancer research.
Our established clinical culture is one of patient centered care where each person we see is the center of a safety bubble. From the first point of contact, to the end of treatment and beyond we strive to treat each patient with professionalism, courtesy and great care.
Supporting the clinical aspects of managing cancer treatment, the Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program is at the forefront of ReDox cancer biology research.
