The Cognitive Brain Development Laboratory at the University of Iowa is focused on identifying trajectories of normal and abnormal brain development, especially in relation to drug use and major psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia.
The laboratory uses state-of-the-art functional imaging tools such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) as well as advanced structural imaging protocols (e.g., diffusion weighted imaging) in conjunction with neuropsychological tests and personality assessments.
Projects are funded by the National Institutes of Health, the University of Iowa, and generous private donations.
