The Department of Pharmacology has a
variety of opportunities for interested and qualified postdoctoral associates
to become actively involved in laboratory research projects. Descriptions
of ongoing research projects can be found on the faculty
research pages. Available positions
change frequently, so interested persons should contact faculty members
directly either by e-mail or phone.
In a recent issue of "The
Scientist" (10 Feb 2003), The University of Iowa was ranked 9th
among 150 institutions in the U.S., Canada, and western Europe. About
2800 postdoctoral researchers responded and provided feedback on their
postdoctoral experiences. This survey, entitled "Best Places for
Postdocs," rated issues of quality of training, information about
career opportunities, quality of communication within the lab, quality
of mentoring, funding, networking opportunities, family and personal
life, remuneration and compensation, and recreation and social life.
