Fellowship Training

Medical education is one of the core missions of UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics. We provide the structure, resources, and guidance that ensures graduates of our pediatric subspecialty fellowship programs are ready to lead in their fields.

Our fellows receive training in:

  • State-of-the-art, cutting edge clinical care.
  • Effecting teaching tools so that they leave with the skills needed to mentor and train the next generation.
  • Research including conduct, study design, data analysis, and publication.

Each fellowship program offers a specialty specific core curriculum. In addition, a departmental curriculum covers topics common to all subspecialties, including research skills, epidemiology/biostatistics, quality improvement, leadership, wellness, professionalism, and business in health care.

Fellows in the UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics who have interest in a career as a physician scientist are encouraged to consider applying for the Pediatric Scientist Development Program (PSDP).

Fellowship training is a small, but very important part of a physician’s medical training. We want your time at University of Iowa and in the Iowa City area to be professionally and personally enriching. We host regular wellness activities and social events to help you maintain a positive work-life balance.
