Contact Information:
- Serves the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Nursery and the Newborn Nursery.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) perform phlebotomy on these very very small patients; some even weigh less than one pound.
- This point-of-care laboratory has set the Laboratory Standard of Care for the clinical management of these critical babies.
- Frequent blood gas measurements are done for proper ventilator management; the close proximity of the CLS staff and laboratory makes these results available quickly and with the highest quality.
- Electrolytes, glucose and calcium test results provide the Neonatology staff with metabolic information needed to adjust IV fluids.
