- Medical Microbiology is a full service laboratory offering a complete spectrum of diagnostic tests in:
- antimicrobial susceptibility testing
- bacteriology
- microbial serology
- molecular methods
- mycology
- mycobacteriology
- parasitology
- virology
- The laboratory performs approximately 125,000 diagnostic procedures annually.
- Provides specialized support for the Divisions of Clinical Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases.
- The faculty also direct active research programs with an emphasis on the epidemiology, mechanisms and detection of antimicrobial resistance.
- The laboratory has an extensive medical education program that includes the training of residents, fellows, medical students and Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) students.
