About UI Routing Forms

The UI Proposal Routing Form is the mechanism whereby an investigator requests University approval of a sponsored research project. It also serves to inform departments and colleges about new projects, provides necessary information for the UI central research offices, and starts the process of initiating a research account in the Grant Accounting Office.

Paper versions of the UI Routing Form are no longer accepted. Routing forms must initially be submitted electronically. To obtain access to UIRIS (University of Iowa Research Information System) and the routing forms, print this page and execute the following steps.

Go to the UIRIS website and click on Request Access and provide the required information. A username and password will be emailed to you from Sponsored Programs. Once you have these, return to the same website and click Login. This will admit you to the UIRIS system. Once there, you can change your password, edit your personal profile, and/or generate a UI Proposal Routing form.

To give the Grants & Contracts Administrator editing rights to the routing forms that you generate, click on 'Edit Your Personal Profile', scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Administrators name on the pulldown list. Click 'Add Selected User' and then 'Apply Changes Now.'
