Applications Development & Support II
The Department of Pathology at the University of Iowa is currently seeking candidates for an Application Development & Support II position. Responsibilities include: Responsible for the analysis, design, implementation and support of the Department of Pathology use of the Epic Clinical Information System application. Plan, design and analyze faculty and staff/customer requests and requirements for the implementation, development and/or support of these modules. Act as primary contact for synchronization of Epic and Pathology Laboratory Information System database, support for testing of Epic software releases and resolution of problems not requiring Epic database access.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems and experience (typically 3-5 years) in applications development is necessary. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements. Conceptual knowledge of databases used by the department. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with technical and non-technical staff. Must be proficient in computer software applications. Some knowledge of University policies, procedures and regulations is desirable.

Clinical Laboratory Scientist III
Tissue and Cellular Therapies
The DeGowin Blood Center at the University of Iowa is seeking candidates for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist III for Tissue and Cellular Therapies. This position is responsible for daily supervision of laboratory activities, such as preparation of cellular therapy products for infusion and management of commercial and autologous surgical tissue for implantation. Other responsibilities include interaction with clinical services, training, scheduling, development and implementation of procedures.
Candidates should have a BS in clinical laboratory sciences, certification as a medical technologist, 1-3 years of laboratory experience, excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others. Academic health center experience is desired.

This person will manage the fiscal, administrative, and operational functions of Medical Microbiology and Molecular Pathology. This position will also provide key leadership to the laboratory section by overseeing section activities to promote maximum cost efficiency, productivity and accuracy in testing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversees Organizational Functions of the section
• Maintains Productivity and Quality of the Microbiology/Molecular Pathology
section
• Performs Human Resources functions including but not limited to: interviewing,
selecting, training, performance evaluation, salary determination, staffing
levels, promotion, and disciplinary action
• Prepares and monitors the section’s operating, personnel and capital equipment
budgets
• Coordinates renovation and design preparation for facilities within the laboratory
with plant and facilities manager, lab directors and section staff
• Monitors and develops programs for revenue enhancement/cost expense
reduction as part of the continuous quality improvement cycle
Required Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Business, Hospital and Health Administration or Laboratory
Administration from an accredited college or university or an equivalent
combination of education or experience
• Considerable (3-5 years) experience in healthcare laboratory supervision and
administration
• Knowledge and experience working in an academic health center
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Reasonable knowledge of personnel and fiscal management is required
• Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the
work/academic environment
