    Faculty Position in Renal Patholoogy and/or Surgical Pathology/Renal Pathology

    The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine seeks candidates for an Assistant, Associate or Professor position on either the tenure track or non-tenure clinical track to take part in an active surgical pathology division with a large renal pathology service. Required qualifications include:

    • MD or equivalent
    • Renal pathology fellowship training or Surgical pathology fellowship training with experience in renal pathology
    • Graduation from an accredited Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology residency program
    • Board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology and must have the credentials required to obtain a medical license in the State of Iowa

    In addition to the required qualifications, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

    • Excellent medical renal pathology skills
    • Demonstrated ability to excel at scholarship and teaching

    Hematopathologist Position Available

    The Department of Pathology of The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is accepting applications for a full-time faculty position with clinical responsibilities limited to hematopathology. Successful candidates will be graduates of accredited residency and hematopathology fellowship programs. The candidates need to be board certified in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology and board certified or eligible in Hematopathology and hold the credentials to obtain medical licensure in the State of Iowa. The candidate will join 3 other hematopathologists and will participate in teaching of medical students, residents and a hematopathology fellow. Experience and interest in bone marrow and lymph node pathology, flow cytometry, and laboratory hematology are required. Candidates with strong interests in clinical or translational research are highly desirable. Physician-scientist applicants with research programs are also welcome, with multiple collaborative opportunities available in lymphoma, myeloma and other areas.

    Faculty appointments can be in the tenure or non-tenure tracks and at the academic rank commensurate with previous experience. Salary and benefits are competitive, as are start up packages to transfer/establish research programs.     The Department of Pathology at The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine is seeking physician-scientist candidates for tenure track faculty positions (Assistant/Associate or Full Professors). Successful candidates will be expected to develop and/or maintain a robust research program in addition to participating in clinical service and education. Candidates must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or Ph.D., and must have been trained in ACGME-accredited Pathology residency and fellowship programs, and be board certified (or eligible). Ph.D. clinical providers with US board certification in areas of clinical pathology are also eligible. Candidates for Assistant Professor should have post-doctoral experience with a strong record of productivity. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a record of ongoing extramural funding support. Candidates should also have excellent communication skills. The research strengths of the department include immunology, cancer biology and muscle biology, although expertise in any area of basic or translational research is welcome. Similarly, any area of clinical expertise will be considered, although readily foreseeable niches include neuropathology with an interest in neuromuscular biology, hematopathology with an interest in lymphoma/myeloma biology or immunology, renal pathology, subspecialty interest in surgical pathology with cancer research, etc. The selected applicant will receive a primary appointment in the Department of Pathology, with opportunities for secondary appointments in other departments and programs.
