Rose Meyer MT(ASCP), MBA, has been selected as the Clinical Director/CDA for the Department of Pathology. Rose will transition from her role as Interim CDA to the permanent position on Monday, September 9, 2013. Rose’s responsibilities will include improving the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics laboratory services, enhancing the department’s research portfolio, strengthening the department’s educational missions, and expanding our outreach strategic goals at the University of Iowa Diagnostic Laboratories.
Meyer has been the Financial Manager for the Department of Pathology since 2002. Rose has risen through the ranks in Pathology including responsibilities beginning as a phlebotomist then Medical Technologist, Assistant Chief Technologist and Laboratory Manager. Rose has also served as an Adjunct Professor at St. Ambrose University and University Health Consortium Lab Council Member.
“The selection process was challenging because of the
strength of the candidate pool, including multiple internal candidates who are
so valued in the department and institution.
I thank the search committee for a job well done,” states Dr. Nitin
Karandikar, Professor and Chair of Pathology.
“Rose was selected from this competitive pool based on her experience
and expertise and track record during this interim period. I look forward to working with Rose and the
leadership teams as we face multiple challenges and opportunities together. We have exciting times ahead of us.”
Meyer states “I am excited about the new challenges and plan to focus on
strengthening Pathology relationships with our Hospital and College colleagues
as well as enhancing the communication within Pathology.”
