  • Pathology Accreditation Inspections Completed

The Department of Pathology has had a busy three months hosting four different accrediting agencies who visit Pathology on a biennial or triennial basis to ensure that all quality and testing standards and regulations are in compliance. In the past 12 weeks, inspection teams from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the AABB (formerly the American Association of Blood Banks), The Joint Commission and the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapies (FACT) have visited Pathology.

Both in the Summation Sessions and in the one-on-one interactions with the staff, the inspection teams have commented on how well run the areas being inspected are. All recommendations received from the inspections will further enhance the excellent work that we do on a daily basis.

"I continue to be impressed with our team. The comments from all four site visit teams are a testament to the careful, conscientious and quality-focused way "Team Pathology" performs its missions. I am proud to belong to this team. Congratulations to all!" Nitin Karandikar, MD, PhD, Pathology Chair and Department Executive Officer.
