  • Amphetamine drug screens generally do not detect “Bath Salts” and other designer amphetamine-like drugs

A collaboration of investigators including University of Iowa demonstrated that a wide variety of amphetamine-like drugs including “Bath Salts” are often not detected by routine urine drug screens for amphetamine. The investigators also used computational modeling on an additional dataset of 261 amphetamine-like drugs to predict which are most likely to cross-react with existing amphetamine screening tests.
