Minimum:


Clinical Isolate (cell culture tube with 4+ CPE). Fill tube with viral 
maintenance media.  Deliver specimen to Microbiology, 6004 BTGH.  Viral 
isolate must be grown by the Virology lab to be shipped to a Commercial 
Lab.  Please contact Mailout Laboratory at 356-8593 concerning 
shipment.

Comments:


Acyclovir is used to treat both localized and systemic HSV, and is used 
as a prophylaxis in transplant recipients.
