The detection of adenovirus DNA is based upon the real-time amplification and detection of specific adenovirus genomic DNA sequences by PCR from total DNA extracted from the specimen. A positive (Detected) PCR results should be considered in conjunction with clinical presentation and additional diagnostic tests prior to establishing a diagnosis. A negative (Not Detected) PCR result indicates only the absence of adenovirus DNA in the sample tested and does not exclude the diagnosis of disease. | ||
