Collection Medium:
Heparinized syringe or Green top tube (Na Heparin) 


Minimum:


0.5 ml in Lithium/Sodium Heparin syringes or,
1 ml whole blood in Lithium/Sodium Heparin green top tube


Delivery Instructions:


Deliver to laboratory within 30 minutes of collection.


Testing Schedule:


24 hrs/day, 7 days a week, including holidays.


Analytic Time:


10 minutes (upon receipt in laboratory)


Reference Range:


<2%

Special Care Nurseries Critical Value: >3%


Comments:


Can be ordered with blood gases (0.5 ml blood required); all needles 
must be removed from the syringe before delivery.
