24 hr collection; with 25 ml 6N HCl as preservative or random urine without preservative. For peds, contact Pharmacy for correct amount of HCl. Send 50 mL aliquot of well-mixed 24 hr sample; pediatric minimum is 10 mL. | ||

If screening for Neuroblastoma, the following tests need to be ordered: CATNBSU (Catecholamines, Fractionated), DOPNBSU (Dopamine), HVANBSU (Homovanillic Acid), METNBSU (Metanephrines), VMANBSU (Vanillylmandelic Acid). Collection containers available from Pharmacy. VMA, catecholamines and metanephrines may be done on same collection. Propranolol (Inderal) will falsely lower total metanephrines. Labetalol (Normodyne) can falsely elevate the apparent concentration of urine metanephrines. Creatinine done on sample at no additional charge. | ||
