I was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania but moved to Iowa at a very young age so I consider myself an Iowan at heart. After high school I attended the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa where I studied Chemical Engineering. With my graduation approaching my science interest changed quite quickly to the medical field, in particular the PA profession which I fell in love with the minute I heard about it. I opted to change career choices and attended the University of Iowa's Physician Assistant Program. I graduated in 1990 and began work in a rural Family Practice in Maquoketa, IA for 18 years. I returned to graduate school and earned my MPAS from the University of Nebraska in 2005. I consider myself to be a poster child for PA versatility as I have also had the opportunity to practice in a busy Emergency Department, Family Practice, Urgent Care, Obstetrics, and Education. My current faculty role is Director of Clinical Education and my current clinical practice is in Family Practice.
I have a small extended family and spending time with them and my husband and children is very important to me. I am an avid cyclist; enjoy the outdoors, traveling, photography, and scuba diving.
