We're committed to providing a supportive environment in which people from any background or culture may encounter each other in a spirit of cooperation, openness, and mutual respect.

Student Counseling

Introduction to Medical Education

Recognizing that a smooth transition to medical school enhances a student’s educational experiences, the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine offers Introduction to Medical Education at Iowa to recently admitted medical students.

Supporting Student Success

At the Carver College of Medicine, our mission is one both of education and support. We support students throughout their studies through initiatives and programs designed to manage the pressures of medical school, build necessary ancillary skills, accommodate for their differences, and facilitate positive social interaction with their colleagues and mentors.

The Gold Humanism Honor Society

The Gold Foundation Humanism Honor Society recognizes fourth year students who are exceptional in their compassionate and respectful relationships with patients, families, peers and staff. Humanism Society memebers are selected by classmates, faculty and staff for membership in this Honor Society.

Alpha Omega Alpha

Alpha Omega Alpha is a national medical honor society which exists to recognize and perpetuate excellence in the field of medicine. Alpha Omega Alpha is organized for educational purposes exclusively and is not for profit; its aims are the promotion of scholarship and research in medical schools, the encouragement of a high standard of character and conduct among medical students and graduates, and the recognition of high attainment in medical science, practice, and related fields.
