As the baby boomer generation ages, the number of Americans with age-related eye disease and vision impairment that results is expected to double within the next three decades. This program is aimed at helping us understanding common eye conditions like glaucoma and age related macular degeneration, and research approaches to these conditions. The University of Iowa is an international leader in vision research and care with particular strength in inherited and degenerative diseases of the eye. Dr. John Fingert of the University of Iowa Carver Family Center for Macular Degeneration is one of many faculty members and researchers at the University of Iowa developing diagnostic tools that shape the understanding of eye diseases. These diagnostic tools will lead the way in treatment strategies for the care and cure of patients worldwide. This two hour program will showcase how the work we are doing from labs to operating rooms will affect the lives of millions of people.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please make this notation on the registration form.
