Since 1996, the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine has been proud to help people discover the world of medicine through our statewide, national and junior Mini Medical School programs. University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine Mini Medical School Programs open the doors to our academic medical center, convey a sense of student experience, help you understand how discoveries translate into innovations and treatment, create memorable hands-on learning experiences and guide key health issues. Mini Medical School courses demonstrate why University of Iowa Health Care is on the leading edge of biomedical discovery.
University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine Mini Medical School programs are designed for science educators, health consumers, students interested in careers in health and basic science, retirees interested in continuing education and anyone else wishing to take a scientific exploration of health and disease. You do not need a medical background to participate in Mini Medical School programs.

University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine Mini Medical School Programs currently include:
- Mini Medical School – Iowa City
- These programs are held on the University of Iowa health sciences campus to showcase biomedical discovery happening at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
- Mini Medical School – Statewide
- The statewide Mini Medical School programs are held in various cities and help to build bridges to Iowans across the state educating our friends and neighbors about biomedical discovery happening at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
- Mini Medical School – Nationwide
- These programs are held nationwide most often where a large number of University of Iowa alumni reside. The afternoon program showcases an area of medicine and research taking place at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
- Junior Mini Medical School – Statewide
- Programs designed to spark the interest of middle school students in science and medicine.
