MUSA (Microbiology Undergraduate Student Association) is an active student-run organization that provides support to undergraduate microbiology majors. Each year a group of students attends the national meeting of the American Society for Microbiology. Below is a picture from the Lab Olympics run by MUSA in Fall 2013.
President - Susie Harris The duties of the president are as follows: coordinating events, speakers, meetings, and student government paperwork. The president also serves as the ASM Branch Chapter representative with the American Society for Microbiology.
Vice President - Ryan SmithThe vice president is responsible for the coordination of the annual trip to the American Society of Microbiology General Meeting and assisting the president in event scheduling. Email Vice President for trip questions.
Treasurers - Elizabeth MuellerThe treasurer is in charge of planning fundraising events and serves as a financial liaison between the Microbiology Department and The University of Iowa Student Government. Any questions about t-shirt sales should be directed to the Treasurer.
Secretary - To be announcedThe secretary keeps a record of all meeting minutes and financial documentation in addition to co-coordinating finances and monies. Email the Secretary about t-shirt sales or the meeting schedule.

Each year a group of MUSA students attends the national meeting of the American Society for Microbiology. While attending, students learn about current studies and research in many fields of Microbiology.
