Iowa City
is the home of many of the Midwest's historical and cultural rarities,
but also has a great entertainment district downtown, right on
the edge of campus.
For more information
about activities in the Iowa City/Coralville area, please visit
the Iowa City/Coralville
Convention and Visitors' Bureau.

The Old Capitol stands proud in the center of campus. Now
the jewel of the university, it once functioned as the capital
of Iowa.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration |
Iowa City sponsors
many events for the community such as the Iowa City Jazz Festival
and the Friday Night Concert series. There are a number of cultural
events as well, most notably the Cinco de Mayo Celebration and
the Native American Powwow held annually at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The
Iowa City/Coralville area also offers beautiful nature trails
for walking, hiking or biking. In the winter, they are used for
cross-country skiing. Boating and fishing is also available at
nearly Lake MacBride and the Coralville Reservoir.
