Wilderness Medicine Interest Group
The Wilderness Medicine Interest Group was formed for students whose interests go beyond providing medical care in a traditional hospital setting. We are a small group of students who appreciate time spent in the great outdoors, and like to expand our knowledge base with the end goal of providing competent care in less than ideal settings. Whether supporting a climbing expedition in the Himalaya, working hand in hand with the ski patrol on Western peak, or assisting Search and Rescue in Yosemite valley, our interests are diverse, and our collective experiences in outdoor sport and hobby are what unite us. We come together a few times a year for lectures on care, or local outdoor excursions such as rock climbing in nearby state parks, mountain biking at Sugar Bottom, or paddling Lake Macbride.
