Service Distinction Track

Six total activities are required.

Mandatory Activities

Clinical Experience with an Underserved, Marginalized or Rural Population.

Choose one of the following for this requirement:

• MECO or Proteus
• M3 Family Medicine rotation
• M4 elective rotations at underserved site
• Other clinical rotation(s) as approved by SDT Council.

Volunteer Experience

Two years of the following (flexible combinations are permitted):

• Minimum of one year of clinical experiences, with the Mobile Clinic and/or Free Medical Clinic (six clinics per year*);
• Other approved experience (such as Community Health Outreach Course Director)

* Committee or Board work may fulfill 3 of 6 required sessions. Separate applications for Mobile Clinic and Free Medical Clinic are required.

4TH year Capstone Project

• A project that includes a scholarly paper and presentation.

Optional Activities

• Global Underserved Clinical Experience.
• Other Global, approved program (domestic or international).
• Elective Courses/workshops
  (e.g. Community Health Outreach Elective, Global Programs Electives)
• Other electives as approved by SDT Council.
• Other Underserved Clinical Activity (by approval by approval of SDT Council)
