Medical Student Research Program
The Carver College of Medicine has been supporting medical student research for over 40 years. In 2000, The Iowa Medical Student Research Program (IMSRP) was established to develop, organize and integrate several different programs that are related to medical student research. Although research is not a required activity for applicants to Iowa, once admitted, students are strongly encouraged to consider research opportunities available on campus. The long term objective of the IMSRP is to encourage more students to participate in a summer research program, and to continue their engagement with scientific research throughout medical school training and beyond. The Research Distinction Track graduated twenty-two students in May 2012.
