    Ellen Franklin, MA, MBA, MME 

    Ellen Franklin is the Manager of Performance Based Assessment for the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. She received her B.S. degree in Mathematics and French from Iowa State University in 1992, her M.A. in Curriculum and Supervision from the University of Iowa in 1997, and her M.B.A. from Iowa State University in 2002.  Ellen is also a graduate of the inaugural class of the Master's of Medical Education (M.M.E.) degree program at the Carver College of Medicine. She worked as a secondary mathematics teacher in the state of Iowa from 1993 - 2001.  While teaching at Ames (Iowa) High School, she obtained National Board Professional Teaching Standards certification.  She began her position at the College of Medicine in 2002, where she serves in the Office of Student Affairs and Curriculum. Ellen recruits, trains, and maintains a sizeable pool of talented Standardized Patients (SPs) who perform a wide range of cases designed to test student knowledge and skills in five clerkships as well as residents knowledge for several UIHC departments. She has assisted faculty in the development of case materials for training and assessment purposes, and is directly involved in all aspects of exam preparation and presentation.
