The Infectious Disease Interest Group (IDIG) is designed to increase student's familiarity with the field of Infectious Disease with special emphasis on diagnostic techniques, clinical science, and current research.
During the course of the year, the Infectious Disease Interest Group will have lunch meetings with guest speakers whose interests may include bacteriology, virology, parasitology, and mycology. We also hope to get in contact with physicians that specialize in infectious disease to act as mentors for students. This will give students the chance to network with these physicians in order to gain insights into the field, as well as provide an avenue for shadowing opportunities. In addition we will give students the opportunity to attend infectious disease grand rounds sessions in order to allow them to get a sense of what clinical cases in the field are like.
We will be available during orientation week to answer questions and engage prospective members.
