The club plans to have monthly meetings to have guest M.D. and peer presenters, journal readings and more. The Medical Student Research Club is part of the Iowa Medical Student Research Program.
Participation in the club is an excellent way to fulfill the ongoing research activities for the Research Distinction Track (RDT).
Tues, March 4, 12:30 pm, 2189 MERFDr. Steve McElroy, a neonatologist, will be discussing his research, the reasons he chose a career as a clinician-scientist, and other various aspects of academic medicine. If you are contemplating academic medicine and research as a potential career path, this will be a wonderful opportunity to hear from someone who is both an outstanding clinician as well as a highly accomplished scientist. Mon, November 4, 12:30 pm. 2189 MERFVarious faculty and CCOM students will talk about 4 different year-long fellowship programs available to medical students. All of the programs are highly prestigious and deadlines for applying are generally in January or February. Voting results will be announced for the M1 representative. If you have not yet voted please vote.
Wed, October 16, 12:30 pm, 1117 MERFDr. Neil Segal, the recently appointed director of the Iowa Medical Student Research Program, will be discussing the Summer Research Fellowship program as well as the Research Distinction Track. If you are interested in doing research over the summer or participating in RDT, this will be a great informational meeting to attend. Free Food provided from Red Pepper.
