Welcome to Kidneeds
Kidneeds is a not-for-profit corporation founded by a family affected by Dense Deposit Disease (DDD). DDD is the new name for a disease that is also called Membranoproliferative Glomerulonephritis type II or MPGN II. DDD/MPGN II is a kidney disease that mainly affects children. Approximately half of all children with DDD/MPGN II will go into kidney failure between 8-10 years after diagnosis and require dialysis or transplantation to stay alive. The disease is considered to be an autoimmune disease, and it recurs in almost all transplanted kidneys. There is no effective treatment for DDD/MPGN II.
Kidneeds' mission is to stimulate medical research on DDD/MPGN II by funding grants to researchers studying the disease. Kidneeds is also an educational resource for physicians and patients. Patients and their families can help us learn more about DDD/MPGN II by completing the:
