Megan Dotson, Research Assistant and Caseworker for Project Iowa SCY, received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Iowa with a minor in Community Corrections from Kirkwood Community College. Her career began at the University of Minnesota while working for the Institute on Community Integration in collaboration with Dakota County Community Corrections. Megan was part of a grant-funded, pilot program aimed at drop-out prevention among adolescents called Check and Connect and helped to expand this program nationwide. This experience provided her with the opportunity to work with many adolescents in her role as a Truancy Officer for 20 different schools in Dakota County. She has since returned to her roots in Iowa and joined the team at the Institute For Strengthening Communities in March of 2003. While not busy with the demands of work, Megan enjoys waterskiing, riding her motorcycle, softball, and camping with her family. She has a huge weakness when it comes to Camel Delight Girl Scout Cookies.
