Dr. Goerdt attended the University of Iowa for medical school and completed his residency at the University of Washington. He then moved to Minneapolis where he completed a General Internal Medicine Fellowship at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and a MPH in Epidemiology at the University of Minnesota. Following his training, he returned the University of Iowa to purse a career in outpatient medicine and is currently the director of the IRL Internal Medicine Clinic.
Dr. Goerdt enjoys many activities outside of work including spending time with his family, listening to music, reading, cooking, skiing, and playing racquetball and ping pong. He is an avid Hawkeye Football fan who has followed them through their ups and downs. He also enjoys traveling to Quetico for an annual canoeing and fishing trip.
Dr. Goerdt choose his profession because “caring for a panel of patients if both rewarding and challenging. I learn something new on most days. I also enjoy teaching clinical medicine, epidemiology, and residents to become doctors.”
