 Geriatric Consult Service Curriculum

The didactic modules listed below were developed for Internal Medicine residents working on the inpatient Geriatric Consult Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as part of their geriatric rotation. They will be useful to all physicians, residents, and students who provide or who will provide primary care to elderly patients. Each module contains didactic information about the associated topic, and may contain one or more interactive case studies, links to GeriaSims patient care simulations, links to GeriaFlix/GeriaTrax presentations, or links to printable clinical tools.

The didactic component of each module is available in a printable form via the link to the right of the title. The Self-Assessment contains a 58-question multiple choice test to help learners assess their own knowledge of issues related to the assessment and management of elderly patients.

This Geriatric Consult Service curriculum was developed by Jose Ness, MD, Assistant Professor in the University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine and Director of the Geriatric Consult Service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
