    Bioinformatics Word CloudThe Iowa Institute of Human Genetics (IIHG) is hosting a Careers in Bioinformatics Information Session to expose students to career opportunities that are being created by personalized genomic medicine in bioinformatics and the management of big data. You can learn first-hand about the diversity of career options and job growth in bioinformatics that is occurring with the advent of personalized genomic medicine.

    Listen to a panel with expertise in bioinformatics, software development, systems administration, clinical informatics, and industry and their role in the field of personalized genomic medicine. 

    Who should attend?

    Undergraduate students, academic advisors and graduate students wishing to learn more about careers in bioinformatics. Enrollment is limited to 50 participants

    When is the session offered?

    IIHG will be holding this information session of Wednesday, February 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the University Capitol Centre's (UCC) second floor Conference Center. City parking is available in the Old Capitol Mall Parking Ramp.

    What is the schedule of this event?

    10 minutes What is Personalized Genomic Medicine?
    50 minutes Panel Discussion (IIHG, UI Hospitals and Clinics Epic Electronic Patient Record, Engineering, Information Technology Systems, as well as industry representatives)
    60 minutes Breakout sessions- Students can rotate through and speak with individual panelists about their career in more detail and have the opportunity to ask panelists additional questions.
