About Health Science Relations
The Office of Health Science Relations:
- Prepares and distributes backgrounders on a variety of issues;
- Plans and coordinates special events;
- Works closely with collegiate staffers to communicate to alumni and friends of the health colleges;
- Contributes to a UI News Digest via e-mail to more than 1,000 subscribers both on and off campus, providing summaries of and links to news releases and national news stories that mention the UI;
- Monitors print, TV and radio news about the university, summaries of which are posted on the UNS Web site and in the UI News Digest mentioned above;
- Contributes to a UI Health Care Website where health related stories are posted weekly;
- Arranges news conferences;
- Prepares media plans;
- Produces specialty publications and news products, such as the Health Sciences Colleges alumni newsletters;
- Plans communications strategies tailored to the needs of specific colleges and programs;
- Provides media counsel to UI faculty, staff and administrators;
- Provides points of contact for media seeking expert sources for health and medical stories.
