Key elements of success will be formally measured and reported to the Provost at the end of each year. In the first two years the primary metric will be successfully completing hires and integration of the faculty into home departments.Secondary measures will be published papers, grant support brought in, graduate student numbers, new faculty on committees and participation in old or development of new courses.
In years three to five, the primary metrics will be grant support, published papers, new courses taught and secondary measures will include numbers of students, participation as co-investigators on grants, co-authorship with non-cluster hire faculty and joint appointments in other departments, centers or institutes. In year one, we will work with the Provost to develop specific numbers and percentages for each metric as target goals of success.
