GCRC Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)

An Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) is a registered nurse with specialized advanced education and clinical competency to practice autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to diagnose, treat and manage a patient's health problems.  They may also be involved in research and education. Nurse practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which they work and are nationally certified in their specialty area. 

A nurse practitioner recently joined the GCRC nursing staff.  With 16 years of experience as a nurse practitioner, Vickie Guzman, MSN, ARNP will be available to assist investigators by:

  • obtaining medical histories 

  • performing physical exams for patients enrolling in various research studies 

  • assisting with staff education needs 

Vickie is certified as a Women’s Health and Family nurse practitioner.  She is available to assist with protocols all day Tuesday and Thursday plus Friday mornings.
