Information for Research Volunteers

A Cast of Thousands

What do a medical student, housewife, farmer, lawyer, mayor, and child have in common?

Each have participated in a research study at the University of Iowa GCRC.

People from all walks of life, from as near as Iowa City and as far as California, have taken time from their busy lives to participate in research studies.

Research participants are an integral part of studies in the GCRC.  Take away the participants and you take away the "clinical" in clinical research.

Safety and Privacy

We strive to balance the strict scientific requirements needed to achieve valid study results with our subject's health, rights, and privacy.

Why I Participated

The reasons and motivations vary among people.  Hear what people are saying about why they decided to participate in a research study.

Parting Comments

When their research study is finished, listen to how our research subjects at the University of Iowa GCRC evaluated their experience.
